GOLD BEACH, Ore – With recent significant rain on the south coast, ODFW is lifting the low flow angling closure on the Sixes River beginning Wednesday, Nov. 9.
ODFW closed a portion of the river to angling Oct. 1 to protect wild fall chinook salmon staging between Crystal Creek and Hughes Boat Ramp. Recent rain lifted water levels and chinook are now migrating upstream.
Anglers are reminded the bag limit for wild chinook in the Sixes River is reduced to one adult chinook per day, five for the season. Elk River, just south of Sixes River is closed to retention of wild fall chinook this year, but anglers can keep an additional hatchery fall chinook as part of their daily bag limit in the Elk River.
